Grass fire at Berryessa

Here is a photo of the fire at Berryessa. They closed Knoxville Road. It knocked out power for awhile last night and my friends at Cucina Italian had to close the restaurant and head home. I just launched my boat and took a ride over there. It’s all out but burned quite a bit - all the way down to the water.

Lake Berryessa News & Announcements 080608

Dear Friends of Lake Berryessa,

The latest version of the Lake Berryessa News has been published to the web site: http://www.LakeBerryessaNews.com

You should also always open the print version pages I include there to see other local news and the wide range of local advertising.

Based on several different knowledgeable sources, it appears that the Bureau of Reclamation and the Pensus Group have successfully completed negotiating a contract which has been reviewed by government attorneys. A formal announcement is expected “soon”.

There are two good articles about the lake from the Napa Register. Please click the included link to go to the Register web site where you will also see comments from readers.

The big news, at least for me, is that I am now a candidate for Director - Ward 3 of the Napa County Regional Parks & Open Space District. Ward 3 is the same geographical area as the Supervisory District 3 of Supervisor Diane Dillon. Any of you who are in District 3, especially in the North County, St. Helena, Calistoga, Pope Valley, Berryessa Estates, Berryessa Pines, Spanish Flat, Berryessa Highlands who would be willing to help me by displaying a sign or introducing me to your friends and neighbors, please let me know. Pass on this email. Check out my campaign statement and background at www.BerryessaEnvironmental.com

There will be significant future synergy through the combination of the renewal of Lake Berryessa and the inclusion of the Lake Berryessa region in the overall Napa County recreational strategy. The District has several excellent projects in process and Ward 3 has some unique opportunities such as the Camp Berryessa Environmental Education Center. Ward 3 is also the gateway to the Blue Ridge Berryessa Natural Area and thousands of acres of public land. With good strategic planning and careful budgeting, we have the opportunity to significantly improve outdoor recreation for all Napa County residents.

Thanks,
Peter Kilkus
