Rallying For A Friend In Need

Rallying For A Friend In Need
Fundraiser for Rich Marsh

A tragic event has changed the life a beloved Napa local, a fellow diver, and our friend. On May 20, 2009, Rich Marsh suffered a massive stroke that has left him paralyzed and fighting for his life.

Rich has Locked-in syndrome, a condition in which a patient is aware and awake, but cannot move or communicate due to complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles in his body. It is the result of a brain stem lesion in which the ventral part of the pons is damaged.

He is slowly regaining movement in his limbs, but has a long battle ahead. Rich has the will to live and wants to continue the fight to regain his life. He is incredibly strong and determined to beat this, and he has the love of family and friends by his side as he takes on the challenge of rehabilitation. More

We are asking for all that know Rich and all that want to support him in his journey, to make a contribution to help pay his mounting medical bills. A bank account has been set up under Rich’s name at Wells Fargo. Anyone can walk into any Wells Fargo and deposit a donation into the account. The account is under Rich Marsh’s name and the account number is 9663064120.

We have heard Rich’s dream to create and sell his artwork for others to benefit from their beauty, we have heard his goal to become a Master Diver, we have heard his plans to teach our children in the coming years ahead. His work is not done here, so today and everyday our wishes, hopes and dreams are with him as he aspires to become whole once again.

Monterey Express – Tim Doreck

Monterey Express
Amazing Dive Forecast for June 6 and 7, 2009

This is only the second time in 13 years I have seen a forecast with a swell model of LESS than 2. The first time was last weekend. It does NOT get any better than this.

A report from Dan Bermingham for dives he made on Needles (a.k.a Half Dome) off of Pt. Lobos on Wednesday mentioned 80′ of visibility!

Here is the NOAA marine forecast for this weekend:

SATURDAY

SW WINDS 5 KT… BECOMING W IN THE AFTERNOON. WIND WAVES 2 FT OR LESS. SWELL 2 FT OR LESS. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS

SUNDAY

W WINDS 5 KT… INCREASING TO 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 2 FT OR LESS… SWELL 2 FT OR LESS.

Visibility in Monterey is 40′ or greater and with these conditions, our plan for the weekend is to head South to Yankee or Lobos Rocks, if we have enough divers. If you have been waiting for great dive conditions, AWESOME visibility, and a sweet ride too, this would be YOUR weekend.

Many spaces remain for both Saturday and Sunday charters and at this time. SATURDAY is a GO BOAT no matter what!
